Coordinates all aspects of the payroll process including, but not limited to: electronic time record capture, error resolution, processing support, GL reconciliation, reports, interfaces and processing schedules. Supports garnishment, tax filing processes, tax setup/updates and system conversions. Assists with the administration of all aspects of the Total Rewards program. Researches and responds to employee questions relating to Payroll, Benefits and Human Resources policies and procedures. Responsible for timely completion of required training applicable to the position and regular and effective application of such training in the performance of the position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensures the entire Gross-to-Net payroll processing is completed in an accurate and timely manner. Processes HR, Benefit and Payroll transactions in Payroll/HR System to include but limited to new hires, pay increases, promotions, terminations, benefit enrollments, life events, direct deposits, general deduction and incentive plan payments. Utilizes knowledge of Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Policies to identify and resolve payroll errors and discrepancies as they occur and communicate back to affected manager and/or employee if necessary.
Reconciles and posts payroll general ledger interface each pay period. Organizes and files all payroll information to include garnishments & levies to comply with federal/state record retention requirements. Reconciles the accuracy of federal/state wage/tax reports each pay period, quarterly and annually to ensure accurate reporting to governmental agencies. Stays abreast of legislation related to the payroll/HRIS system and wage and tax laws.
Ensures timely and accurate filing of all taxes, completes necessary documentation with regulatory agencies in order to pay taxes in new state(s). Monitors payroll legislation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations related to Payroll, Tax setup, filing and timely payment of taxes. Ensures all compensation, overtime, incentive payments, commission and taxable fringe are paid in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Assist with annual Payroll, Worker’s Compensation, and 401(k) Audits. Assists with the gathering and preparation of information for the auditors. Creates and prepares routine payroll reports and data requests for customers.
Ensures detailed procedures are written for the payroll process. Identifies ongoing process improvements and recommends procedures that increase efficiency and reduce or eliminate potential manual errors. Delivers requested data reports that meet department, management and government reporting requirements.
Research and respond to employee questions and requests for information relating to payroll, benefits, and/or Human Resources policies and procedures.
Assists with the administration of Total Rewards programs, including health and welfare plans, 401k, base compensation, and variable pay plans.
Participate in published compensation surveys and analyze survey results, market trends, and industry competitive pay practices to ensure positions are competitive within the marketplace. Propose recommendations for change to management team as needed.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Experience using an integrated HR/Payroll system.
Knowledge of multi-state and local payroll tax setup, filing and processing.
Knowledge of wage garnishment and levy processing.
Knowledge of Wage & Hour laws and federal/state tax laws relating to payroll and benefits.
Knowledge of Benefit Plan Administration and interaction with payroll processing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
Knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated professional.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work under time constraints with minimal errors.
Knowledge of UltiPro or other HRIS systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
2-4 years of progressive experience in Payroll, Benefits or Compensation processing/administration.
HR, payroll, benefits or compensation administration experience preferred.
